September Update - Richie Anderson returns to coach Gordonian RFC
Gordonians are delighted to announce Richie Anderson as the new head coach for the club.
He will take over the reins from interim head coach James Bowen who has done an outstanding job getting the squad ready for the season through his demanding but enjoyable pre-season training. Richie who has previously played & coached Gordonians RFC will take on the role at the helm of the club at this exciting time. With a great wealth of knowledge and experience in coaching in the North East of Scotland Richie is the ideal candidate to move the club forward. Due to his previous involvement at the club and coaching the Robert Gordon’s College 1st XV, he will be coaching a number of familiar faces who have grown up practicing his creative and attacking style of play along with a number of new faces.
Club President Jim Sugden said ‘Gordonians are thrilled with the appointment of Richie, his passion for the game and the club is infectious. We hope the appointment will increase the link of players who leave Robert Gordon’s College and join Gordonians for senior rugby. The constant conveyor belt of fresh young talent coming through from the school to play for the club is of great importance to Gordonian RFC. They are the heart and soul of the club, with a vast majority of this year’s squad having attended the College.’
Richie Anderson will be assisted in role by assistant coaches James Bowen, Duncan Blair & RGU coach Willie Craig. The club would like to say a special thank you to James Bowen for all the work he has done throughout the summer in his first venture into coaching.
After a difficult weekend away to Highland RFC at Canal Park, the young side will be looking to bounce back quickly ahead of the visit of Aberdeenshire RFC to Counteswells this Saturday.
