The Pelicans season kicked off again on Sunday 20th August 2017 and we now have in excess of 40 P1 - P3 boys and girls coming to sessions at Countesswells on a Sunday morning, which is a great endorsement for our section and the hard work everyone has put in to make it a success. The plan is to grow the section year on year until we get to a situation where children and young adults are developed as rugby players until the point that they can play senior rugby with Gordonian RFC and/or beyond.
In turn this has meant the volunteering of new parent helpers/coaches this year and we are delighted to welcome Shaun Finch, Edouard Leroy and Babak Alnasser into the fold.
The plan for this season ahead, as well as to introduce the building blocks for rugby player development, is for the section to get involved in the local tournament scene and also hold joint training sessions with neighbouring clubs. This should increase awareness of the section, introduce the children to other young rugby players, provide variety and ensure we continue to learn new skills and have fun in a safe and friendly environment.
On the social side, a trip, organised by Keri Fraser, is planned to take the Pelicans to Murrayfield to watch the Scotland V Australia autumn international on 25th November 2017 and I am sure more social events will follow.
For anyone interested in joining, regardless of the school they attend, further information is available at our new website which has kindly been developed by Fraser Mackie www.gordonianpelicans.com or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
